We are going to be working hard to put together die cut sets and embellishments to add to our inventory. From the new Cauldron, Skull and Crossbones, Ghost Town, or Geo Halloween to the Reindeer, Layered Pine or Festive Elf, the work at The Die Cut Shop continues on a daily basis!

How about a Ghost Town?

Magnetic Creations

If you haven’t already had a chance to look around, you may notice that magnets are a popular thing here at The Die Cut Shop. I like to create magnets, mostly because they are fun to look at and can brighten up a plain space without much effort at all. Magnets make nice little gifts and are fun substitutes for greeting cards. Magnets make it easy to decorate your office or cubicle for the holidays, and can add some personality to any magnetic surface whether at home, at the gym, in the shop or the garage.

Here are a few questions for you - How long are you supposed to display a greeting card? If you get a nice birthday card from someone, how long are you supposed to look at it before you put it away? One day? One or two weeks? Longer? Where do you display this card? At your desk? On the mantle? Or, do you put it on your refrigerator? Well, if you had a greeting card that is already a magnet, your dilemma would be solved! A magnetic greeting is practical, decorative and fun to look at.

Since you are reading this post, you are already someone with a creative spirit, and have probably made plenty of greeting cards. Perhaps you have spent hours creating the perfect card. Where are those cards now? Well, if they were magnetic creations, those greetings would very likely still be on display and enjoyed instead of in a drawer somewhere.

We have magnetic creations for sale, as well as magnetic die-cut shapes, ready for you to turn your own creations into greeting card masterpieces, decorations, or fun little gifts. Many, but not all, shapes can be cut into magnets, and are available for purchase. If a magnet is not already available for a particular design, just send us a message and we will see if it can be done.

It’s something to think about!

Monster Mash

I was literally working on product listings for these Tim Holtz monsters, when the Monster Mash came on Sirius XM Seventies on Seven. I remember this song being played during elementary school during Halloween parties, and the images of a monstrous lab the lyrics would conjure up. What a fun song!

So, after a search that took about two seconds, I came up with this clip from American Bandstand back in 1962. If you have heard the song, but have never seen it being performed by Bobby Pickett, you should take four minutes and thirty seconds to enjoy it now! Bobby really gets into the lyrics.

The Monster Mash by Bobby Picket

Make some Monsters of your own with our monster kits! Choose a Zombie, Vampire or Frankenstein monster, or get all three. Each kit contains two sets (one chipboard set and one white cardstock set) for you to build your own monster. Some people prefer the shades and colors that result from embellishing chipboard, while others prefer a white background for more vibrant colors. The dual sets gives you plenty of options. Turn your monster into a magnet, and now you have some Halloween décor!

Monsters are not just for Halloween! Use your own imagination to create monsters for all seasons and occasions. It’s okay to have fun and think outside of the box once in awhile.

Enjoy!

Mossy Rock Studios

Mossy Rock Studios is where all of the action happens! It is the creative space where I work, where the ideas are born, where the messes are made, and where I get to do what I love.

After I decided to create my own website, the challenge was to find a name that would make sense. After careful consideration, and some amount of discussion, it became very apparent that Mossy Rock Studios was not the best choice. It would be better to call the website something that would be easy to find and easy to remember, so The Die Cut Shop was born.

I like to consider The Die Cut Shop, the online store for Mossy Rock Studios.

Mossy Rock Studios is always bustling with ideas, and I plan to share those ideas here. I hope that you will come back from time-to-time to see what new.

Thanks for visiting!

The Whittles Are Here!

I recently discovered the Whittles from Poppy Stamps, and find them to be irresistible! Whittles are little die-cuts, mostly animal shapes, that have little hatch marks on them. Each Whittle creature looks like it was whittled into shape, giving each one a rustic look. They’re small and they’re cute, and will add a little whimsy to whatever you are working on. The options are endless!

The Die Cut Shop is pleased to offer several sets of Whittles for you to use in your own projects. Mix and match for fun creations!

·         Add some Whittle Pumpkins and Whittle Ghosts to your Halloween projects.

·         Whittle Otters, Whittle Owls, Whittle Ducks, Whittle Birds, Whittle Squirrels, Whittle Elephants, and Whittle Foxes will make cute additions to cards, tags and scrapbooks.

·         Imagine what you can do with these Whittle Deer inside Whittle Wood Frames!

·         How about a Whittle Moose for Christmas? A Whittle Rabbit for Easter?

·         There are even some Whittle Hearts and Whittle Heart Frames for Valentines Day or anytime of year!

·         Make gift tags with Whittle Cupcakes! Add some Whittle Trees to all of your projects!

A Whittle goes a long way…sorry, I just had to say that!

A Little Die Cut Shop History...

It All Started With a Cigar Box...

Even though I consider myself to be a somewhat creative person, I had never found something that really stuck with me. I attended a local craft fair and was drawn to a cigar box that was covered and embellished with some interesting circus themed paper, and for whatever reason I thought that it was cool and interesting, and more importantly, within my skill set to recreate.

So, I purchased the circus box and brought it home. I don't know what I thought I was going to put in it, but figured it would be a nice addition to my somewhat eclectic collection of assorted curiosities. I was determined to create similar boxes on my own to give as gifts and possibly keep for myself.

There is a cigar shop in our town, so finding a supply of cigar boxes for my own creations wasn't going to be a challenge and locating decorative papers would be relative easy. However I wasn't sure where to get the feet for this little box, or even sure what to call them. Fortunately, my Aunt Debi is an avid scrap booker, and is very familiar with this world. She told me that the box feet looked very much like a Tim Holtz product. That was it. Once I checked out the world of Tim Holtz, I was hooked! The kinds things that you can make from die cuts, distress ink, embossing folders and rubber stamps are endless!

I had unwittingly entered a world that seemed very interesting, and worth exploring. The variety of creations that can be constructed out of paper intrigued me. I could imagine my own greeting cards, gift tags, invitations and stationary. The possibilities! So, my husband got me a Vagabond machine for Christmas and the rest, as they say, is history.

Welcome to The Die Cut Shop!

Thank you for stopping by the Die Cut Shop, a place to find hand-made die-cuts and other paper-crafting products!

After selling die-cuts on eBay and Etsy for the last few years I felt compelled to create my own website, and just have fun with the entire process. Selling on these other sites has been good, but there are limitations to the creative process on these other platforms, and I just wanted to do try something a little more exciting and interesting. The Die Cut Shop gives me a place to share ideas and creations, while still offering a wide variety of die-cuts for sale.

As you might discern from the selection of die-cuts, I am very partial to Tim Holtz designs. In fact, I eagerly look forward to the new collections and get really excited to see what Tim has in store for Halloween and the holidays. However, I like a wide variety of interesting designs, and am always searching for more.

Please take a look around, and be sure to come back often. There are always new things being added, and you never know what you might find!

Enjoy!
